Casey Key is one of the most secluded and prestigious locations in Florida. Due to its combination of wealth, limited building area (the island is only about 300 yards wide at most spots), and natural conservation that preserves its old world charms, the eight-mile island is a private paradise.Away from the crowds of the public islands, Casey Key Real Estate is just a few minutes away from all the major attractions of the city while existing in its own personal solitude.

The land use of the isle is restricted to single-family residences, with many large estates spread the full width of the shore.  Most estate properties on the island have private beach access to the Gulf of Mexico, as well as boat docking on the Sarasota bay front.  The north end of island has resident's gate that is guarded full-time.  The island is perched at an elevation that ranges between 400 and 450 feet above sea level, higher than most other barrier islands and greatly beneficial for residences on such a thin island. The natural environment and wildlife of the island are fiercely safeguarded by protective legislation, providing the residences with an undisturbed natural habitat, home to a plethora of native species of wildlife and vegetation.  The south end of the key, Nokomis Beach, is the oldest public beach in Sarasota County, which has both beach and bay front, and is known to be the best place in the area for surfing, as well as observing dolphins and manatees.

Casey Key Real Estate ranges from a small 1 bedroom condo from the $240's up to beachfront estates of $20,000,000.  The islands old Florida charm is one of Sarasota Florida's "Best Kept Secrets" private beachfront paradises.  Some of the area’s most prominent citizens such as Stephen King live here.

Casey Key Real Estate

SUMMARY: Casey Key real estate offers bungalows, cabanas, palatial mansions and resort-style hideaways. This affluent island is devoid of all commercial interests and is as “Old Florida” as it gets.

Casey Key real estate offers the most secluded, prestigious and wealthiest stretches of sand. Here you will find “Old Florida” in all its European-American splendor. You won’t find high-rise condominiums, beach apartments for rent, long retail strips, commercial hotels or generic chain restaurants anywhere on the island. In fact, aside from Nokomis Beach, there is very little public sand space on this 100-yard-wide paradise either. It’s no wonder that celebrities like Stephen King would choose to purchase property in this bridge-access key.

Casey Key real estate has a diverse mix of properties. Casey Key Road offers gated, gulf-front properties with boating access along Blackburn Bay. The Northern end of Casey Key backs up to Drymans Bay and offers a number of private beach access homes, which overlook the water but are situated a little further back. These homes come in quaint, low-maintenance cottages, cabanas and bungalows. Yet, along the Southern point of Casey Key, you’ll find sprawling waterfront estates and multi-million-dollar palatial mansions. Since there is such a limited area to build and contains less than 500 residents, the island is not overcrowded and remains a serene haven for retirees, vacationers and wealthy entrepreneurs.  In 2005, Casey Key real estate owners saw their home values appreciate 50%, making it an ideal investment. Unique to Casey Key is an unusually high elevation that insulates the homes from any inclement weather.

It’s easy to see why Casey Key real estate was called “Treasure Island” during the land boom of the 1920s. The glorious beaches allow for swimming, fishing, shelling, boating, picnicking, strolling, sun bathing, parasailing, kayaking, jet skiing and relaxing. Exotic birds line the shores and you can often spot a dolphin or manatee playing in the surf. Dense landscaping mixed with towering oaks and banyans add to the natural atmosphere, far removed from concrete playgrounds and city life. Most of the amusement here is in nature, although the island is a stone’s throw from Nokomis, Sarasota and Venice, where you’ll find all the big-city amenities, top-notch schools and hospitals, golf courses and tennis courts, museums and theaters.  Airports, shopping centers, amusement park and other entertainment options are a short drive from your secluded paradise.

Life for Casey Key real estate owners is a departure from the chaos of life off the island. The average temperature hovers between 70 and 80 degrees and the beautiful sunsets visible from your back porch are just surreal. Affluent residents are drawn here by the pleasant weather and relaxing, rewarding way of life that’s hard to find elsewhere. Many people feel as though they own a tropical island all to themselves.
