            <title>Property Sales in the Sarasota Real Estate Market are up 8.2% for 2011</title>

For the entire year of 2011, property sales of members of the Sarasota Association of Realtors jumped by 8.2% to 8,224, achieving the highest level since 2005.&nbsp; The surge in sales was accompanied by stabilization in the median sale prices, which now stand at $155,925 for single family homes and $156,800 for condos over the full year, and have not fluctuated much for the past 12 months.

As of January 1, 2012, there were 10 properties that are showing sold in Sarasota Florida County during the last 60 days that were listed above $2,000,000.&nbsp; 

The highest priced property that was listed for $3,500,000, sold for $2,400,000 on Manasota Key. &nbsp;Another sold on Bird Key for $2,675,000.&nbsp; 

There was also a sale on Longboat Key with full gulf views for $2,250,000.&nbsp; Eight of these ten properties were all cash transactions.&nbsp;

            <title>Good Numbers for Sarasota-Manatee Economy</title>
            <description> <![CDATA[ A range of statistics on unemployment and business sales all point in the same good direction for the Sarasota-Manatee economy, but differ on how fast the economy is recovering. 
Most notably, the local unemployment rate has fallen much more quickly than the national average.&nbsp; Unemployment in the two counties stood at 12.7% in September 2010, but had fallen to 10.3% by last month. The national rate fell much more slowly over that same period, from 9.6% to 9%.

The number of Americans who signed contracts to buy homes jumped in October to the highest level in a year.&nbsp; The gain follows three months of declines so is not enough to signal a housing recovery.

The National Association of Realtors said Wednesday its index of sales agreements rose 10.4% last month to a reading of 93.3.

Pending sales in Sarasota and Manatee counties totaled 1,207 in October, up 6% from a year ago and 4.4% from September.
