Siesta Key Homes

Siesta Key Real Estate is diversified with properties ranging from small bungalows and condos to beachfront mansions.  Prices for homes in Siesta Key range from $299,000 up to $20,000,000 with everything in between. There are many canal front homes within minutes from the beaches with private boat docks for your boating pleasure priced from $500,000 up to $2,500,000.

Siesta Key Beaches

The island offers a variety of different options for beach-going, the three principle beaches on the island being:Siesta Public Beach, the widest beach in the county, located mid-island, named Best Sand Beach in American for two years in a row by the Travel Channel; Crescent Beach, at the southern end of Siesta Key Real Estate, the beach is hundreds of yards wide and is for ideal swimming; and Turtle Beach, which is lagoon-side at the most southern point of the island, less crowded and more relaxed than the larger beaches of the island.

While the beaches are the principle social outlets of the island, Siesta Key Village, located within walking distance from the Siesta Public Beach, is not far behind for activity.The village caters to all forms of entertainment, from shopping to ice cream cones to bars and nightclubs, the beach community is a lively area at all times of day. The island has wonderful winding bike paths, and, from November to September, the Siesta Key Trolley runs from the south tip of the island to the northern end, so residents may easily avoid the crowded parking lots of the public beaches while venturing out on the sand for a siesta in the sun.

After years of working and saving, many people choose to retire in Siesta Key real estate, home to some of the world’s most pristine beaches and a comfortable, laid-back culture that invites unwinding.

If you loved Jimmy Buffet’s “Margaritaville,” you will feel right at home in Siesta Key real estate. When the sun sets over Siesta Key Village along Ocean Boulevard, you’ll find warm tropical breezes, casually dressed socialites, live music, eclectic watering holes, frozen margaritas and local restaurants selling everything from stone crab claws to cheeseburgers. During the day, families dine at The Salty Dog restaurant, where they can grab hotdogs for the kids, beer for the parents and even bring their pet. Boutiques line the streets with jewelry, swim wear, Birkenstocks, casual sportswear and antiques. Fishermen can hop aboard a charter to cast a line for snook, redfish and speckled trout. Water lovers can kayak with the dolphins, hop aboard a sailboat, ride an airboat named “Gator Gal” or take an adventurous pirate cruise. Meanwhile, lily-livered land lubbers can check out the Ringling Brothers circus museum, visit the Jungle Gardens, rent a bicycle, stop at the Moat Aquarium or tour historic Sarasota. There is much to see and do, whether you live in Siesta Key real estate or you’re just visiting.

“It’s really a great, beautiful beach,” says the well-known “Dr. Beach” – Dr. Stephen Leatherman, professor of Environmental Studies at Florida International University. Upon analyzing the world’s beaches for more than 500 different characteristics, Dr. Beach and Harvard researchers concluded that Kauai, Hawaii truly has the world’s best beach sand, but Siesta Key real estate comes in a close second. “The water is clean. The sand is blazing white,” he adds. “[It’s] a great place for families – great for people who want to get away and unwind.”

Ideally, you would choose Siesta Key real estate as your home. As of the 2000 Census, there were 7,150 people living here. Over 98% of the population is European-American, with a small percentage of African Americans, Native Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders residing here as well. Just under 10% of the households have children under 18 living with them, but more than half of all households are comprised of married couples and a third are individuals living alone. There is a large retirement community in Siesta Key real estate, which is demonstrated by the median age of Siesta Key’s residents (60). The median household income is between $66,000 and $81,000, although there are plenty of extremely wealthy pockets around town. The multi-million-dollar Siesta Key real estate blocks exude a European charm – with visible influences from Italy and Spain – and are laid out to feel like a private resort, tucked away from other homes, while remaining just a short drive from the main thoroughfares.
